Haze !!?? What is Haze?
Haze is a phenomenon caused by the existence of many small particles that are invisible to the naked eye and float in the air. These particles may be derived naturally or side effects of human activities.
Nowadays, more areas record unhealthy air pollution index (API) readings. -11 September 2015
Worst hit by the haze - due mainly to the forest fires in South Sumatra and Kalimantan - is Samarahan with an API reading of 182 followed by Sri Aman (177) and Kuching (163).
- In Selangor, Port Klang, Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya and Banting recorded API readings between 112 to 116.
- Batu Muda and Putrajaya also recorded unhealthy air levels at 120 and 108 respectively.Port Dickson, Seremban and Nilai di Negeri Sembilan registered 107, 127 dan 138,
- while Bandaraya Melaka and Bukit Rambai, was at 104 and 115.
- Meanwhile in Pasir Gudang and Larkin Lama, the API reading was at 113 and 107 respectively.
An API reading of between 0 and 50 is categorised as good, while 51 to 100 is moderate; 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous). ( http://www.astroawani.com/)
So, what should we do as a citizen to save our environment from epidemic haze. If we ignore and just see without doing anything, what could happen in the future? How the fate of our generation in the future? Lets act now guys! ;)
Now I will share causes of the pollution, the main source of haze is due to
- burning openly
- smoke from factory
- smoke from vehicles.
AVOID ACTS OF WHICH MAY RESULT IN THE HAZE !
HAZE THREATEN YOUR HEALTH
The haze that persists will bring adverse effect on everyone, especially the high-risk, namely: -
- Kiddy
- Parents
- Those who suffer from diseases
• asthma
• bronchitis
• pneumonia
• lung disease, chronic
heart •
• Allergic - Smoker
- They are constantly working outside the office or home.
- Those who suffer from illnesses such as coughs, colds, asthma, eye pain, heart or lung disease, chronic shall come to the clinic immediately if conditions worsen.
- those in high risk groups should always take medication as advised.
- Cover nose (nasal mask) should be used by all motorcyclists, those who work outdoors or in places that are dusty and even those in high risk groups.
- Smokers who have small children, elderly parents and relatives of the diseased do not smoke in the house.
- As far as possible, people are advised to stay in the building or home.
- Reduce sports activities outside the home
- People are advised to always wash your face and the skin is exposed to the haze with clean water.
- If your vehicle's air conditioner, please use it.
- People are advised to drink plenty of water.
- Smokers are advised not to smoke when unhealthy air conditions (ie above 100 IPU)
- Those at high risk are advised to take leave beyond the hazy if the haze continues at dangerous levels in their area. Are Signs and Symptoms Haze Effect on Health
The effects will be experienced after continuous exposure to the haze are:
• Feels itching in the throat and coughing.
• Feels difficulty breathing or shortness of breath.
• Eyes sting and water.
• runny nose and frequent sneezing.
• Body skin feels itchy.
• Feels chest pain.
Get treatment and advice of a doctor at a nearby clinic if you have signs and symptoms.
