It totally different with Service Charge .Service Charge is not compulsory and its dependent on premises basis. Some restaurant may charge from 5% to 10%. This charge is not implemented by government and is typically implemented restaurants and hotels. Service Charge is altogether a different item compared to GST . It should not be compared with Goods and Services Tax.

Malaysia is expected to experience a significant budget deficit if not implementation the GST - Berita Harian
Malaysia's economic is totally depends on revenue from oil industry but it shown the sharply declining of commodity oil price over 50 percent of the 100 US $ per barrel in 2014. Therefore GST is necessary and important step as the Sales and Service Tas (SST) previously is inefficient and weak tax collection. The collection of SST only RM 18 billion compared with GST RM 39 billion so we can conclude that implementation of GST is more efficient to improve Malaysia's economic.
Our government setting a few initiative to minimize the impact of GST on low and middle-income households with not impose the GST on some necessary goods including medicines and food. As conclusion, the implementation of GST will improve the economic and it influence people to reduce spending budget and learn saving.
